Merry CHRISTmas...

It really irks me when people succumb to saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" just because of the stupid media.  I even found myself saying it to a patient the other day, and berated myself harshly for it after realizing what I had said.  Christmas IS about Jesus -I mean, half the Christmas songs everyone still sings have Bethlehem or Christ the King themes.  Radio stations still play those songs, and people still like them.

Also, why does every Baptist church now have a Living Christmas Tree production?  What happened to good old musicals, or the classic "A Christmas Carol"?  I really am not interested in watching a bunch of choir members stand in a big tiered evergreen stand with their hands clasped simply singing songs in between a narrator's droll monologue.  Where did the drama and the manger scenes go?  Have our churches even become that commercialized?

Maybe I seem a bit bah humbug-ish but Christmas will def be different for me this year.  Not being with the one you love is hard in and of itself; with Chad in Northern VA, I certainly won't see him over the holidays which makes for a very lonely Christmas and New Year.  But we are also staying at home in VA this year for the second time in my whole life, as I have to work Christmas Eve.  Every year we always go to Charleston and have a huge Christmas morning with much of my extended family - grandmas, aunt, uncle, and cousins.  Family is what makes Christmas special for me, so it will be a very quiet, and again lonely, Christmas with just the immediate fam.    But I have to make the best of it and remember that though traditions and family are important, the true meaning of the season is Christ's birth and the implications it had on the salvation of our souls.

So Merry Christmas to you and your family.  May it be special for you, as we remember our Savior and enjoy family togetherness.

*YAWN*

Oh yes - Xanga.  I had almost forgotten.

Strangely, I am still dating things by semesters.  "Yeah, next semester I'll...  oh wait - I'm not IN college anymore!"  Heh.

Hoping JMU will get back to me soon requesting an interview to the PA department - already got accepted to the school's master's program.

Traveling every weekend was fun at first (think constant road trip!), but it got really old really fast.  NOVA and Lynchburg are the two beaten trails, and New York, for my best friend's wedding, is next weekend.

Speaking of weddings, everyone's getting friggin engaged and married.  Weird.  We're way too young for this!!

Sinus infection is wiping me out, so I think I'll go sleep now.  Maybe I'll update in another 6 months.  Lol.

PS - I'm SO ready for Christmas and 2008!!

Sad news...

My laptop's hard drive has crashed.

Therefore, unless my amazing computer-savvy boyfriend or IT manager father can manage to get any information at all from it (which hasn't happened thus far), then I've lost everything I ever saved from freshman year on.

This means every picture I've taken, every document I've written or saved, all my music, any random aim conversations or other files are all non-existent...

It's really not a good situation, though I've actually begun to resign myself to it.

*Sigh*
